My reflection

We've been asked to write our reflection about Google sites and blog, since we did Google site which contained 10 Google tools which we used and we should provide screenshots as well to illustrate the way of using each feature in every tool. In the blog I used to write whatever comes to my mind to share my way of thinking and my interests as well, and I attached some of videos which I thought are really cool. Now I’ll rank every Google tool that I've been using and will write my own opinion about each one of them.

1-      Blogs

·         Helpfulness:-

I used Google Blog to do my own blog which contained 10 posts and it’s really cool because it enable people to visit your blog and check your interests they may comment on any post if they wanted and you can share pictures videos, It can be helpful for accumulating information in one place and users can be creative and do their own themes as well.

·         Ranking:-

I give 5 stars this tool is beneficial and easy to use it enable users to even download videos using URL instead of having the video or picture in you PC you can just take the URL and paste it in the blog and the picture will be uploaded even faster than when you download the picture and re-upload it again.

2-     Gmail

·         Helpfulness:-

People started adopting Gmail leaving Hotmail and others because Gmail has a lot of nice features which are easy to use such as changing the theme and you may set auto responder in case if you were in vacation. You may have video conversation with lot of users once but you have to download certain programs to do so. Also, you have to create a Gmail account to be able to use blogs and sites.

·         Ranking:-

It’s obviously 5 stars because I really liked the idea when the whole class was connected through video conversation it can be helpful a lot and you may create filters as well.

3-     Google Calendar

·         Helpfulness:-

Google calendar is a helpful tool ot can be connected through smart phones as well so you can keep track of your events through your phones, laptops or computers and you can adjust the whole thing, colors, events, make many calendars one for college one personal and one for work if you have many deadlines and it’s easy to use.

·         Ranking:-

It’s a good tool but the only problem is people started to use their smart phone’s calendar so it’s hard to convince people to keep using Google calendar even if it was on their own phones they’ll be using the normal calendar.

4-     Google Chrome

·         Helpfulness:-

Google Chrome is the substitute of Internet Explorer and Firefox as well, it has many features starting from themes till the web store and it’s flexible and easy even if you wanted to download a picture from Google all what you have to do is to drag the picture into your desktop that’s all.

·         Ranking:-

Me personally I liked Google Chrome since its flexible and easy to use but I am loyal to Firefox and got used to it and it’s hard to change or adopt a new browser when you’re used to it.

5-     Google Docs

·         Helpfulness:-

Google Docs is really good, if you had group project you may exchange information using the same document it can be controllable by multiple users and you can share Documents with your group as well. People might do Survey in it, it provides the format of the survey all what you have to do is fill it with your information and it’ll automatically gives you the link to share for people in order to fill the survey.

·         Ranking:-

It’s a bit complicated for users to start with; it needs many tutorials to be understandable. People have many online websites which give them the chance to do a survey on it.

6-     Google Maps

·         Helpfulness:-

Google Maps is really great it has many features in it, such as checking the weather, the traffic, your current location and destination to places from different angles.

·         Ranking:-

Google Maps are absolutely 5 stars it’s really helpful and accurate, the best feature is the traffic one because you’ll be able to get information about the busy roads and avoid them to reach on time.

7-     Google Picasa

·         Helpfulness:-

Picasa is really great for people who have no time for Photoshop since it consumes time just to open the program. In contrast, Picasa enable you to edit your pictures using different edits, you may create a poster and a collage.

·         Ranking:-

It helped me personally to do my posters for another project and it has many affects and enables you to write text in the picture I really loved it! Also, it accumulates all the pictures in one place to make it easy on you.

8-    Google Search

·         Helpfulness:-

Google Search is the most well-known search engine worldwide beside being a search engine there are many tricks which make Google look really cool and it has many features which we had lack of information about such as: it can calculate, tell you the weather, population, GDP, you may focus on one word while searching and many more.

·         Ranking:-

Google Search is 6 out of 5 it’s so perfect for use no need for more explanation its Google!

9-     Google Sites

·         Helpfulness:-

Google site helped me a lot to organize my information in one place and present it in a cool way using many themes that they provided and you may create your own theme. It’s professional and you may use it in many things to look creative instead of Power point presentations.

·         Ranking:-

Google sites have couple of disadvantages such as it’s hard at the beginning to adjust the theme and if you like a certain theme that you want to use you can’t pick you own color there is a certain colors that you should choose they don’t provide all the colors. Sometimes when you work on the site something wrong happens to the format! The banner goes in the right side although it was in the middle and the picture sizes are either so big or so small even when it’s actually adjusted to medium so you have to use Irfan view to re-size the picture.

10- Google Reader

·         Helpfulness:-

Google Reader is a type of RSS feeds which we have in our phones I think it’s cool to be tracking and getting the updates of the websites that you like without having to enter each one of them manually it combine all what you like in one place all what you have to do is to subscribe.

·         Ranking:-

I started to use it for the sites that I like such as 9gag and likealaugh instead of checking these sites every minute it automatically shows the update on these sites.

11-  Social Bookmarking

·         Helpfulness:-

Social Bookmarking help people to save what they like in one place to read it later if they were busy or you may share what you like from articles with your friends or if you read an article and thought about one of your friends who will like it and thought to share the like Social Bookmarking make the process goes easy.

·         Ranking:-

In my point view, I think that people started to switch from reading articles online to social networks and other places so mostly users lost interest on it they should update these sites with new features if they wanted to attract more viewers.

Horoscope .. !

Some people believe the horoscopes and read in daily newspapers what to do and what not to do! Me personally I think that it's unbelievable so I don't even read these stuff. But, once I was sitting in the living room then my baby sister came and told me that she found a website which tells you about your personality based on your birthday.

I was amazed with the results because I felt that what the website said about me is 100% true it was error-free. So, thought of sharing this website for people who might be interested and I'll share my results as well

My result:

Nice short cartoon

Once I was at the cinema waiting to watch a movie then I saw a short clip from Disney which they made without making the characters talk but it delivered the whole story in a clever and cute way.

I went home then thought to search for this clip and couldn't find it. After months while watching the funniest website ever 9gag.com I saw a person who posted this video and I couldn't believe it till I watched it all, then I saved it in my PC because am sure that if I didnt download it I'll miss the chance and won't be able to find it again.

Exclusive cars of Dubai Police

We all heard about the new luxury cars that Dubai police have. It became as a news worldwide everyone is talking about the collection of luxury sport cars which Dubai Police are using. So I thought why don't I add the whole collection of this new cars in my article since it is brand new topic that people are still talking about.

While looking at these pictures it's like watching Fast and Furious 6. Also, in Gulf new paper it was written that Lt Gen Dahi Khalfan Al Tamim, the Dubai Police Chief announced, “These sports cars will not be roaring and chasing speeding motorists.” Instead, “They will be used for road security in different areas of Dubai.”  So, what does that mean?  It means visitors can expect to see these exotic new brands of Dubai police cars patrolling tourist areas, such as: Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Beach, Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Mall, Jumeirah Beach Residence, and other major attraction hot spots.

The Police Chief was also quoted as saying when they unveiled the Ferrari, “Dubai is a unique city and everything in it should reflect its uniqueness and for that reason police will add a Ferrari sports car to its patrol fleet.” So, you may ask, is this of a public relations ploy more than anything else? The answer, yes and no but probably yes.

The cars will come with computers, lie-detectors, special cameras, and other advanced devices designed to assist the officers in their job. But is that worth the sticker price of the fleet, or is it all a bit excessive? You decide. However, keep in mind this is Dubai, and whether excessive or not, you have to admit, it makes you want to reconsider your childhood dream of becoming a police officer, especially if it’s in Dubai.

College life

This is my final semester in the college so its been 10 semesters from the day I came to college till now. Life in college is way different than life back at school days. Teachers used to be responsible about every action that the students do. Also, teachers treat us as if we were their own kids they take care of every single thing that you need to do starting from tasks given till the most simple conflicts.

I really miss those days when we had every project at a time. All the teachers used to discuss with each other in order to be sure that student won't be working in more than one project at a time. But, at college in order to show us how is life and how tough it might be we have to handle more than one project within the same period. So if I counted how many project I have while am writing this article:
1-( Government Accounitng = 1 report)
2-( Advanced Accounting = 1 report and 1 quiz)
3-( Taxation = 1 report and a case study) < although we don't have taxes in UAE
4-( Photography = 1 blogs 1 sites 1 poster and a gallery visit report to be filled )
5-( MIS = Teaching project 1 blog and 1 site)
6-( Climate, Value and change = 1 presentation and 1 quiz )
7-( The finals of 4 courses )

3 weeks left to do all of these!! although am managing my time I feel bit worried because my aim is to get a GPA higher than 3.5 the only one mistake I've done was working and studying in AM classes at the same time because it really decreased my GPA from 3.72 to become 3.47 which is a lot am not even an excellent student anymore. 

So I decided to work extra in order to get at least 3.5 I really hope to acheive this goal if I did I'll be proud of myself and won't forget it ever!

all the time I look to the schedule of the deadlines to see how much time left before graduation after a month from today I'll be living in a different life adopting different life style having nothing to do! and being bored all the time! so its ok if I push myself little harder in this 3 weeks :)

Photo Gallery

We were assigned to visit two photo galleries in Dubai and write our reflection about it. So me and my colleagues which are my friends as well  went to DIFC because we checked the internet and saw that they have a photo gallery over there. When we reached to that particular place the main door was closed for maintenance so walked to no where finding for Mr.right who will be guiding us. Although we're locals but to be honest we didn't know that we have this place in Dubai and it looks like this. 

When we reached over there the place of the gallery was dirty and dusty because the gallery had photos paintings and sculptures so they were moving these stuff. We saw two english guys and were shy to begin a conversation. Then I felt like the sooner we talk the faster we'll finish the visits. So they explained the gallery and talked about the Artists because these art pieces were for many artists not one. Then we took photos of these pictures and left it was a bit weird place.

The second destenation was Chanel's gallery we went over there. Then saw bodyguards which were all over the place they were really big! after the entrance we saw a big sign shows that we can not take photos. We were disappointed so thought of leaving the place then saw a bodyguard who was smiling! to be honest I was afraid to even talk because of his exaggerated size! then he asked me about my name! the place that I live in and started introducing himself ! I was shocked because these do not happen to us people do not talk to strangers at all! Then we took a brochure to keep it as a memory of this day. We returned home exhausted but happy at the sametime because we finished one project in a half day which is a MIRACLE! 

The concept of beauty

The symbol of beauty has changed a lot, if we compared the standards of beauty in the past and present. You may see the difference.

If someone was extremely beautiful we say in Emirati (Taar) which means gorgeous. So I'll be using this word in this article. In the past one of the beauty signs was to have a light skin color, even girls were trying their best to be as much white as possible by using even white powder even if it looked ridiculous to use exteremely white fairing products regardless their colors. They thought being white means being Taar no matter how you look like. 

but nowadays people have changed their opinion and lots of them rather to be tanned instead of white no matter in which season we are winter, summer or spring they aim to be tanned all the time even if it was harming their skin. Men and Women started to go the beach for tanning purposes or even doing a fake tan in winter to maintain the same skin color. Some says the darker your skin become the more beautiful you'll be. which I really don't understand. In my own opinion I think being tanned is not suitable for every face some people look good being white others look better being tanned!! 

Moving to another aspect which is the size. Before having a meduim body considered as healthy and beautiful at the same time but nowadays people started to adopt a habbit of having a ZERO size and the shops started to minimize the size of the clothing line as the video which I'll be showing below will talk about it briefly, Enjoy.
